Sound Therapy for Neurodivergent Kids

November 2024 has added a Sound Therapy for Neurodivergent Kids certification to Sound and Healing Therapy Credentials. Having been a children’s educator my entire adult life, glimpses of the world kids are growing up in today began a long time ago. Holy Spirit led me to quit my public school music educator position I absolutely loved. He called me to be a full time at home mom to three beautiful children under the age of three, after navigating a complicated twin pregnancy and receiving a miracle.

Holy Spirit told me my Heavenly Father had a ‘different plan’ for His little treasures. I knew nothing about home education at the time, but I knew a lot about music therapy, gifted/talented children, music education, and I knew how to follow Holy Spirit’s leading. The impact of music on children has been a high interest focus for me since Jr. High Science Project days throughout my Master’s Thesis, Oral Exams, and Master’s Degree in Music Education.

IEPs

Times have shifted significantly from the days of having a few children in the classroom with IEP’s (Individualized Education Plans). In today’s confusing, chaotic, and broken world in which children are growing up, as many as half of each classroom need IEPs! Holy Spirit has tugged on my heart for the children since my college days. He has led me to intercede fervently for the abandoned, orphaned, those in foster care, those growing up in broken homes, abused, trafficked, sick, etc.. I wrote about some of these topics in my newly revised and updated November book release, Was I Not Listening Or Did They Not Tell Me? The Journey of a Psalmist. Receiving an additional certification in Sound Therapy for Neurodivergent Kids is one of Holy Spirit led Kingdom solutions to this significant problem for today’s children and their families/caregivers.

Holistic Alternatives Needed

Working with neurodivergent children is not unfamiliar to me. From the public school classroom and the onset years of special education, EBD, ADHD, autism, gifted & talented education, to one of our own adopted children, and several of our own precocious children, my journey has engaged a world overflowing with children in need of individualized educational plans. Where children are concerned, our medical system is extremely broken (a topic far too extensive for this post). There must be natural and holistic options and alternatives available for parents/families/caregivers who need assistance with their children’s specific learning needs.

Birthing A Dream

I have carried a dream of a Kingdom Equipping Center for a very long time; a place where families and children can encounter the Healer on multiple levels (another topic for a different post). Adding this certification, Sound Therapy for Neurodivergent Kids, to my other degrees and certification credentials is a strategic piece of Holy Spirit leading. This certification brings me another step closer to realizing the dream Holy Spirit is birthing through me in the very near future.
