Sending In The Season

December oftentimes presents unique and exciting Kingdom opportunities. I was blessed with several wonderful ‘sending in the season’ events this month. Personal invites as the pianist for special anniversary and/or Christmas celebration events always bring forth special blessings. Connecting with precious people who are treasures in our Heavenly Father’s eyes while getting to use my piano skills/training always multiplies the blessings.

I am both a classically trained pianist and vocalist. Over the years, the Lord has provided me with numerous opportunities to play weddings, parties, ‘piano bar’, dinner music, traditional church services, houses of prayer, conferences and so much more. These experiences all contribute to what I am skilled/gifted/called to do most often and most uniquely: spontaneous Holy Spirit led intercession/assignments. Assignments include album projects as well as sound therapy clients.

Taking It Back

This year’s sending in the season included preparing love songs from the 40’s & 50’s, jazz, and Cole Porter along with impressionistic, jazz, classical, and standard arrangements of a wide variety of Christmas classics. The diversity of music again highlighted the prolific infinite creativity of our Heavenly Father. As Creator, He alone creates the sound, i.e. the music He imparts to His creative vessels. Each vessel is given free will in how to use it. The kingdom of darkness cannot create anything. It can only counterfeit. As His vessel, I practice, prepare, and go where He sends me. Because He indwells me, when I play, Holy Spirit flows from my innermost being and He takes back what was Heaven’s in the first place.

I did not always perceive or discern this with a Kingdom lens. Religion loves to separate ‘secular’ and ‘sacred.’ This lens completely overlooks the absence of creativity apart from our Creator. He instructed me to obtain sound therapy certifications to take back for His Kingdom and His glory what belongs to His Kingdom and His people. Playing instrumental music from the many varying genres I am requested playing for events is in the same vein. Taking it all back for His glory. I thoroughly enjoy being able to accompany Holy Spirit with my piano skills/gifting. However, whenever, and wherever He is sending in the season.

More Opportunities in 2025

I look forward to more opportunities of this nature, not only over the holidays in this up coming new year. Holy Spirit reminded me again, how very much I miss using my music reading skills and diversity in playing styles through this year’s sending in the season. I believe the Lord is going to enlarge my tent on the path ahead in this area with many more varying opportunities in 2025. He is able to use me as He did David: to ‘drive away the tormenting spirits’ in whatever atmosphere He chooses to send me in to.

My prayers prior to any event He sends me, including our little neighborhood Christmas music gathering, is always for Holy Spirit to play through me. “Move however You desire to draw people to Yourself, Lord.” Sometimes that simply means representing Him well. Other times, it opens up further opportunities of a deeper conversational level to give all the glory and honor to Him alone. Holy Spirit knows the details. My heart is simply to be His vessel bringing glory and honor to the King of kings and Lord of lords. I am beyond grateful for this year’s sending in the season.

In very different settings with completely different atmospheres and groups of people, the evenings in this year’s sending in the season concluded with, “You made the party. Thank you.” It was the Lord playing through me that made the party. Always and forever eternally grateful with all glory and honor to Him alone!
